TradingView to Tradovate Setup with TP/SL Brackets

What You Will Set Up

By the end of this guide, a TradingView alert will place a bracket order (entry, take-profit and stop-loss) on your Tradovate leader account, and Signal Trade App will copy that bracket to every follower account in your copy group. You need a paid TradingView plan, because TradingView only sends webhooks from paid plans.

  1. Connect your Tradovate accounts.
  2. Create a copy group: one leader, any number of followers.
  3. Create a webhook token pointed at the leader.
  4. Create the TradingView alert with a bracket message.
  5. Test on a demo account, then go live.

Step 1: Connect Your Tradovate Accounts

  1. Go to Connections and click Add Connection, then choose Tradovate.
  2. Choose the Environment. Use Prop firm for evaluation and funded prop-firm accounts, Live for your own brokerage account, and Demo / Sim for a Tradovate demo. Prop-firm accounts connected as Live show up empty.
  3. Click Connect with Tradovate and log in on Tradovate's page.
  4. Repeat for each Tradovate login. Check that every account shows CONNECTED.

Rithmic accounts (Apex, Bulenox and others) can be followers in the same group. See How to Connect Brokers and Platforms.

Step 2: Create a Copy Group

  1. Open the Cockpit and click Create Group.
  2. Pick the account your alerts will trade as the leader.
  3. Add your followers and set each one's copy ratio. At 1.0 a follower trades the same size as the leader; at 2.0 it trades double.
  4. Set daily loss limits and max quantity per account in the risk settings.

Step 3: Create a Webhook Token

  1. Open Signals and click + New Token.
  2. Choose your leader account. The alert trades the leader, and the copy group passes every order on to the followers. One alert covers all your accounts.
  3. Copy the webhook URL. The token in it is the only credential, so do not share it.

Step 4: Create the TradingView Alert

  1. In TradingView, open the chart and click Alert (or edit an existing alert).
  2. Under Notifications, tick Webhook URL and paste your URL.
  3. Paste one JSON message (below) into the Message box, and nothing else.
  4. Set the trigger: Once per bar close for indicators, or Order fills only for strategies.

Bracket from an indicator or a manual alert

Write the values directly. takeProfit and stopLoss are price levels, not ticks or points:

{"action": "buy", "symbol": "{{ticker}}", "qty": 2, "orderType": "market", "takeProfit": 4550.00, "stopLoss": 4490.00}

Stop-entry bracket

A resting buy stop at 4520 with its bracket attached right away. You will see the entry, take-profit and stop-loss working at once:

{"action": "buy", "symbol": "{{ticker}}", "qty": 2, "orderType": "stop", "price": 4520.00, "takeProfit": 4550.00, "stopLoss": 4490.00}

Following a Pine Script strategy

A strategy() fills in its own action and size on every entry and exit:

{"action": "{{strategy.order.action}}", "symbol": "{{ticker}}", "qty": {{strategy.order.contracts}}, "orderType": "market"}

Careful with brackets on strategy alerts. With Order fills only, the same message is also sent when the strategy exits. A fixed takeProfit/stopLoss in it would be attached to the exit order too. If you want the bracket to handle your exits, send the entry from your script with alert() and the TP/SL it calculated. The Signals page has a copy-ready Pine example under Advanced.

Exits

Use continuous symbols such as MNQ1! or ES1!. They resolve to the current front-month contract, including after a roll.

Step 5: Test, Then Go Live

  1. Point the token at a demo leader with one demo follower, and fire the alert once.
  2. On Signals, the log row should read EXECUTED. A REJECTED row says why (invalid JSON, missing field, locked account, or a broker refusal).
  3. In the Cockpit, check that the follower has the entry, the take-profit and the stop-loss.
  4. Move the leader's stop-loss on the chart and confirm the follower's stop moves too.
  5. Switch the token to your real leader account when it all matches.

How the Bracket Copies to Followers

Each follower gets the same bracket, sized at the leader's order × its copy ratio. When the entry fills, the take-profit and stop-loss become an OCO pair at the follower's broker. When one fills, the broker cancels the other. If you move or cancel the leader's legs, followers follow. Details: Copy Trading Bracket & OCO Orders.

Common Problems

ProblemFix
Tradovate connected but no accountsRe-add the connection with the Prop firm environment.
Nothing in the signal logThe webhook URL is missing from the alert, or your TradingView plan does not send webhooks.
REJECTED: invalid JSONOnly one message in the box, double quotes only, and no trailing commas.
Order placed but bracket incompleteThe broker refused a leg, often a stop on the wrong side of the market. Check the leader account before resending.
Alert fired several timesUse Once per bar close instead of once per bar.
