Topstep requires trading your funded account through Topstep's own platform. Signal Trade App works across Topstep and every other prop firm, from one interface.
Topstep is a futures prop firm: you buy an evaluation, pass it, and trade your funded account through Topstep's own trading platform under Topstep's rules. That works well if Topstep is the only firm you plan to fund. It becomes a constraint the moment you add a second firm — Apex, MyFundedFutures, Take Profit Trader, or any other prop firm comes with its own platform, its own order tools, and its own login. Signal Trade App connects your Topstep account, and any other prop firm account, to one platform so you trade all of them from the same interface.
The difference is architecture, not a ranking of who is "better." Topstep's own trading tools are scoped to Topstep accounts. Signal Trade App is broker- and prop-firm-agnostic — it connects directly to the underlying broker infrastructure (Tradovate, Rithmic, NinjaTrader, ProjectX) that Topstep and most other prop firms run on, so the same connection, dashboard, and order tools work whether the account behind them is funded by Topstep, Apex, or any other supported firm. Topstep still issues the evaluation and the payout; Signal Trade App is the alternative to being confined to Topstep's own interface for trading that account.
Once a Topstep account is connected, it can be charted and traded on /chart, a real TradingView charting_library integration with draggable entry, take-profit, and stop-loss lines. Each drag reprices the order server-side at the broker, and take-profit/stop-loss are enforced as OCO — fill one leg and the other cancels automatically. /chart's order controls are currently in limited early access while the rollout expands; email support@signaltradeapp.com to request access. See the full mechanics on chart trading and bracket & OCO orders explained.
The same account can join a copy group alongside accounts at other prop firms — copying trades from a Topstep account to an Apex account, or the reverse. Full bracket and OCO propagation across leader and follower accounts is a related capability also rolling out to a limited allowlist; the same access request covers it. If your goal is scaling one strategy across several Topstep accounts specifically, see the dedicated Topstep trade copier page. If you only want order tools for a single Topstep account without the multi-firm angle, see Topstep order tools.
This is not a claim that Signal Trade App replaces Topstep's core business. Topstep still grades the evaluation, enforces its own drawdown and consistency rules, and issues the payout — none of that changes. What changes is where you trade: instead of Topstep's platform being the only option for that account, and a different platform for every other firm you fund, one flexible interface covers all of them.
Not on funded accounts. Topstep issues evaluations, funded accounts, and payouts — Signal Trade App does not. Signal Trade App is a broker-agnostic trading and copy platform you can connect a Topstep account to, alongside accounts at other prop firms, so you are not confined to trading that account only inside Topstep's own platform.
Yes. Signal Trade App connects to the broker infrastructure Topstep-funded accounts run on, the same way it connects to Apex, MyFundedFutures, or other supported prop firm accounts.
Topstep's platform is scoped to Topstep accounts only. Signal Trade App is one interface — dashboard, charting, and order tools — that works across Topstep and every other supported prop firm you connect.
No. Topstep still grades the evaluation, enforces its own rules, and pays out. Signal Trade App connects to your Topstep-funded account and gives you order tools and multi-firm flexibility for trading it, not a replacement for Topstep's funded-account business.
Yes. A Topstep account can be a leader or follower in a copy group alongside accounts at other firms. Full bracket and OCO propagation across leader/follower accounts is rolling out to a limited allowlist — email support@signaltradeapp.com to request early access.
/chart's order controls are currently in limited early access while the rollout expands. Email support@signaltradeapp.com to request access for your Topstep or other prop firm account.
The platform-flexibility angle matters less in that case, but the TradingView charting and OCO order tools still apply — see the dedicated Topstep order tools page, or Topstep trade copier if your goal is scaling one strategy across multiple Topstep accounts.
