Set a daily loss limit and profit target per account. When your day hits either one, the account is flattened and locked until the next session.
Setup takes under a minute per account.
The Count setting decides what the lock measures, so it can match how your firm or your own plan defines a loss.
| Count option | What it measures | Use it when |
|---|---|---|
| Realized + open (net) | Closed trades plus open profit or loss. The default, and the same definition Tradovate uses for its daily loss limit and Topstep uses for its personal daily loss limit. | You want the limit to act on the true state of the day, including a trade that is underwater right now. |
| Realized only (closed trades) | Only trades you have closed. | You hold a position through noise and want the limit to count banked results. |
| Open only (unrealized) | Only open profit or loss. | You want a cap on how far a single live position can run against you. |
Once the lock trips, it cannot be unlocked, raised or removed, and the Count setting cannot be changed, until 6:00 PM ET. You can still tighten the limit. That is the point of the feature: the moment you most want to override a loss limit is the moment you are most likely to revenge trade. The lock removes the option.
It trips once per account per trading day. If the open P&L goes stale (no price for about 30 seconds while you hold a position), the lock pauses and notifies you instead of acting on bad data.
The lock flattens with a market close, so in a fast market the fill can land past your limit. Set it with a buffer inside your firm's limit, not right at it. It is available on Tradovate and Rithmic accounts only. It does not replace your prop firm's rules, which the firm keeps enforcing at the broker. Drawdown tracking and alerts on the same page remain notify-only.
A daily loss limit only protects you if something enforces it. Most traders set a number in their head, break it on the third losing trade, and call it a bad day. The Daily P&L Lock moves that decision out of your hands. On the Risk Mgmt page you enter a daily loss limit, and optionally a daily profit target, for each account. When the day's P&L reaches either number, Signal Trade App closes all positions, cancels working orders and locks the account until the next session opens at 6:00 PM ET. A locked account receives no copies.
It is built for traders who run funded and evaluation accounts on Tradovate and Rithmic, which covers Apex, Take Profit Trader, MyFundedFutures, LucidTrading and other firms on those platforms. Your prop firm still enforces its own limits at the broker. The lock sits inside them: a tighter personal limit that ends your day before the firm's rule ends your evaluation. On Rithmic, where the platform has no daily loss limit you can set yourself, it fills a gap you could not fill before.
You do not need a copy group to use it. It works per account, so a follower in a copy group can carry its own limit, and a single account you trade by hand can have one too.
A per-account daily loss limit and optional daily profit target. When the day's P&L reaches either one, Signal Trade App closes all positions, cancels orders and locks the account until the next session opens at 6:00 PM ET.
Tradovate and Rithmic accounts, so prop firm accounts on those platforms such as Apex, Take Profit Trader, MyFundedFutures and LucidTrading. It is not available on other connection types.
No. Until 6:00 PM ET it cannot be unlocked, raised or removed, and the Count setting cannot be changed. You can tighten the limit. This is deliberate, to stop tilt and revenge trading.
You choose: Realized + open (net), which is the default; Realized only (closed trades); or Open only (unrealized). Net matches the daily loss limit definition Tradovate uses.
No. The firm still enforces its own rules at the broker. The lock lets you set a tighter personal limit, plus a profit target, and on Rithmic gives you a limit you can set yourself.
It can. The lock closes positions at market, and in a fast market the fill can land past your limit. Keep your limit comfortably inside your firm's.
Yes. It works per account, so a follower can have its own limit. A locked account receives no copies until the lock ends.
