Copying Trades on TopstepX

TopstepX is Topstep's own trading platform. ProjectX, the technology behind it, became exclusive to Topstep in early 2026, and independent reviews report that new Topstep Trading Combines have been TopstepX-only since July 2026.

If you want to copy trades between TopstepX accounts, your options are narrower than they used to be. Everything below was read from Topstep's help center and recent rule guides on 2026-09-24; confirm on help.topstep.com before relying on it. Signal Trade App does not connect to TopstepX, and this page does not recommend a third-party copier for it.

Option 1: The TopstepX Built-In Copier

Links a leader to follower accounts inside TopstepX, for Trading Combine and Express Funded accounts.
Not available on Live Funded accounts.
Copies only between TopstepX accounts, not to other firms or platforms.
Submitting a payout request unlinks followers; reconnect them after the payout clears.

Option 2: TopstepX API Access

TopstepX offers API access through ProjectX for $29/month, or $14.50/month with Topstep's discount code. One subscription covers all eligible accounts on your profile. Topstep says Live Funded accounts may not trade through the API, and that it does not endorse or support external vendors offering API integrations.

The Rule That Rules Out Cloud Copiers

Topstep's help center states that "all trading activity must originate from your personal device" and that "the use of VPS, VPNs, and remote servers is prohibited by Topstep's Terms of Use." A server may watch and record data, but it cannot trade. Cloud copiers place orders from their own servers, so under these terms they are not a safe way to copy TopstepX accounts. Hedging across accounts — long on one, short on another — is also prohibited.

TopstepX Rules Worth Knowing

Trading Combine maximum loss: $2,000 on 50K, $3,000 on 100K, $4,500 on 150K, trailing at end of day and monitored in real time.
Consistency target: best day at or below 55% of the profit target, or the target rises.
Daily loss limit: an optional add-on at checkout; hitting it locks the account for the day but is not a violation.
Profit split: 90/10 from the first dollar.

What TopstepX Does Not Do

Topstep's help center notes that TopstepX cannot connect to TradingView and does not support custom indicators. If charting matters to you and you trade at firms on Tradovate or Rithmic, Signal Trade App offers a real TradingView chart with drag-to-modify bracket orders (order controls are in early access), an order-flow view with absorption and volume profile, a multi-account cockpit, an automatic journal, and copy trading between Tradovate and Rithmic accounts. It does not connect to TopstepX.
