CISD 70.5% Retracement Scanner

A change in state of delivery (CISD) is when price stops printing candles one way and closes through the open of the run that led there. This scanner finds those and alerts you the first time price pulls back to the 70.5% retracement of the new leg, on NQ, ES, YM, RTY, MNQ, MES, MYM, M2K, GC, MGC, SI, CL, MCL, NG, 6E and 6J.

It runs on the 1, 3, 5, 15 minute, 1 hour and 4 hour charts and only uses closed candles.

How the scanner decides

For a bullish CISD (a bearish one is the mirror image):

  • There must be a run of at least two down candles, each closing below its open.
  • A candle then closes above the open of the first candle of that run. That close is the CISD. A close above only the last candle of the run does not count.
  • The run must span at least one average candle, so tiny runs are ignored.
  • The leg is measured from the lowest low of the run up to the highest high reached since the CISD. It keeps extending as price keeps going.
  • The alert fires the first time a candle trades back to 70.5% of that leg.
  • If a candle closes below the run's low before that happens, the CISD has failed and nothing is sent.
  • Only the first 100 candles after the CISD are followed.

What you get in the alert

The public feed shows a line such as "NQ 5m · Bullish CISD pulled back to 70.5%". An alert sent to your email or Discord adds the 70.5% price, the leg it was measured on and the open that was closed through.

What it cannot tell you

Different traders define a CISD slightly differently, for example by which candle's open must be closed through. This scanner uses the first candle of the run, as described above. Price can fall through 70.5% and keep going. The scanner marks the pullback and makes no claim about what follows. Alerts are informational, not trading advice.
